Pinche Gringo, Tontons, The Booze

When: Mon., Aug. 15, 10 p.m. 2011
Price: $5

Houston foursome the Tontons sound like they're set for bigger (if not necessarily better) things. Riding the polished swagger of the Cars-inspired and once-almost-popular Pink Spiders, aping the angular garage pop of the Arctic Monkeys and cutting it all with a dash of fuzz-warmed Slumberland pop, the Tontons could fit well on a Rolling Stone "next" list. Pinche Gringo's buzz-bomb blues and blustery punk will be a delightfully rude awakening. The Booze also play this 10 p.m. gig. —Bryan C. Reed
