Phurnne; Electric Cactus; Despoiler; Crowmeat, Bishop & Eubank

When: Wed., Aug. 12, 9:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $7
Nightlight and noise could be synonymous; tonight, it’s Massachusetts’ Phurnne, whose counterintuitive soundscapes feature squealing violin, nervy electronics textures and distorted voices. Accompanying their collective anxiety play Electric Cactus, whose manic mixes sometimes sound like a golden age hip-hop producer having a nightmare. Despoiler’s hard-edged industrial noise completes the dystopic circle. Local master improvisers Crowmeat Bob, Jeb Bishop and Chris Eubank open. —Corbie Hill
