Phil Ade, The Kid Daytona

When: Sun., Aug. 18, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $10-12

Fervid emcee Phil Ade recalls Washington, D.C., great hope-turned-strip-club loverman Wale, if all of his radio-rap courting and Rick Ross hangouts hadn't happened. The Kid Daytona, meanwhile, is a creative collaborator who has worked with everyone from B.o.B. to Jim Jones. He's from Atlanta but ended up in New York, representing that very right-now, polyglot, no-region rapping. Both of these young, spirited rappers currently hover around the fringes of the blog culture that is effectively hip-hop's top talent scout. Here's a chance to witness their music IRL instead of URL. —Brandon Soderberg
