Realizing in high school that your parents are weird is one thing, realizing you dad is Poseidon, mythic all-powerful God of the Sea, is quite another. Such is the fate of Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman), who discovers his lineage along with a laundry list of other school age horrors—his best friend is actually a satyr, that teacher out to get him might literally swoop in with claws and take him down, etc—after getting caught up in an adventure beyond his wildest dreams. The whole Greek chorus of mystery and mischief starts out when Zeus' lightning bolt is stolen and Percy is labeled prime suspect. Add to that the strange disappearance of Percy's mom and the angry legion of battling gods that he and his friends get caught between and you've got yourself a Mount Olympus sized-quest, if only a molehill-sized display of emotional range and acting chops. It's a labyrinthine plot populated by a flood of supporting characters and clever allusions that might reignite your love of mythology, if not necessarily blow your socks off.
