Peelander-Z, Blood Red River, Clockwork Kids

When: Sun., Oct. 26, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $8-$10
Joining the (hopefully receding?) tide of recent ’80s fetishization, Brooklyn-via-Japan, live-action-comic-book rock band Peelander-Z embraced their inner headbanger last year for Metalander Z. Their ninth album dispatches previous pogo-punk intensity for ponderous rumble, high-wire leads and low-end throb, alternately evoking Mötley Crüe, Van Halen, Bon Jovi and Iron Maiden. Whatever they play, Peelander-Z always put in the work to entertain. Durham’s (mostly) surf-blues instrumentalists Blood Red River open, plus Clockwork Kids. —Chris Parker
