In music, exposed parts refer to sections where a single player has to carry the moment alone. In flamenco, all parts are exposed; there is no chorus or corps to fall back on. Dancers and guitarists must convey extreme passion as they subdivide beats into precise 16th, 32nd and 64th notes. Though the voice of the cantaor trembles with raw emotion, it must never entirely give way to it. That's why flamenco is ever a dance along the edge, and why it manifests the duende—that state where extreme emotion and risk contend with each other. Dancers Patricia Ibañez and Abel Harana have made La Casa del Flamenco the destination of choice in Seville for the art form's connoisseurs. In Memoria Antigua at Duke Performances, their excursion into the history of flamenco includes rare variations from Lebrija, Cádiz and Córdoba. 8 p.m., $10–$38,
