Re: “AIDS activists dissed at N.C. State

While a student at NCSU back in the mid 80's, there was controversy in connection to the LGBT Community and I wrote a letter to the paper about it then. I am very saddened that now in 2007 that things have not changed very much. True, we are in the bible belt, but it appears that many people, even conservative Christians, are beginning to be more open to what the scriptures truly say and don't say about homosexuality. We expect the minds of college students to at least be open. I feel sorry for the treatment of the group that came to make a positive difference and sorry for the ignorance of those that they encountered. As an open, ordained lesbian minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I am in full support of a center in which the gay community can come together and feel safe on any college campus. Perhaps one day it will be NCSU.
