Palm, Less Western

When: Wed., Nov. 11, 9:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $5
New York’s sleepy Hudson River Valley has lately become an indie rock hotbed, catering to big city ex pats and liberal arts college kids both hungry for odd sounds. Palm, born at Bard College but now hanging in Philadelphia Rock City (according to their BandCamp page), are attempting a math-rock revival. But where that genre’s originators could be cold and cerebral, Palm’s knotty songs seem weirdly warm. —Jeff Klingman
