Paderewski Festival

When: Sat., Nov. 14 and Sun., Nov. 15 2015
Ignacy Jan Paderewski was a Polish pianist composer and activist for Polish independence in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This festival celebrates his many performances in Raleigh between 1917 and 1939. Over the span of four concerts, including today’s and tomorrow’s in the North Carolina Museum of Art, four different pianists will present concerts heavy on Polish composers. In practice, that means you’ll hear a lot of Chopin, a handful of pieces by Paderewski himself and a speckling of Beethoven, Ravel, Mozart and Schubert. See paderewski-festival.org for a full schedule. —Dan Ruccia
