In what's billed as the first in a series of annual festivals of North Carolina playwrights, Owl Tree Theater for the People presents 10 works by resident and native authors over three days. The locals include Railbirds, a racetrack remembrance by Brook North, Learning, an unconventional parent-teacher conference from Richard Krawiec and a showdown between two exes in Owl Tree founder Jesse Lowe's The Red Party. Also featured: an adaptation of a Chekhov short story, Settling the Score, and a peek into a polygamous family in Three Pretty Maids. The casts include Christine Rogers, Stephanie Kellogg and Monae Johnson. —Byron Woods
