Overnight | Varsity Theatre | Special Events | Indy Week
This is a past event.

When: Sat., June 26 2010

Those who viewed the 2003 documentary Overnight, about the rise and fall of Boondock Saints writer/ director Troy Duffy, usually find themselves filled with a unique combination of sympathy for Duffy and a desire to not apply their brakes if they saw him crossing the street. The tale of Duffy's ego and paranoia going mad as he was granted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to guide his script to the big screen and take his band to the top was captured on film by his friends Tony Montana and Mark Brian Smith. Montana (given the many Scarface allusions in The Boondock Saints, this just might not be his original name) now has a new film (which we can only hope will be better than The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day) titled Homage. He'll preview it at the Varsity over three days, after screenings of Overnight that will include a Q-and-A. Anyone with a question about the making of The Boondock Saints should head to this, as should aspiring documentary filmmakers—on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Montana will host a three-hour interactive multimedia lecture on documentary/independent filmmaking. Admission to this event is $15; admission to the screenings, which are at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, is $6. —Zack Smith
