Over the Rhine, Ben Sollee

When: Wed., April 10, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $21

If ever there were a place to wear your faux geek glasses, this is it. Over the Rhine's sophisticated folk-pop is keyed by the canny lyrical craft of frontwoman Karin Bergquist. Storms swirl in the sepia-tinged world of these songs, without upsetting the dispassionate crow's nest view. OTR's two-decades-plus catalog is most notable for its consistency and refinement. Opener Ben Sollee is cut from similar NPR-approved cloth. A classically trained cellist, Sollee first drew widespread attention alongside Abigail Washburn and Béla Fleck in the Sparrow Quartet. He's since released three solo albums of souful, jazz-tinged chamber pop. —Chris Parker
