Oumar Konaté, Daniel Bachman and Zeke Graves

When: Fri., Oct. 3, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $8
The young Malian guitarist and singer Oumar Konaté delivers the dancing tufts of notes you might expect from his region—flashing, bright, jubilant runs down the neck of the guitar, where each little theme seems pulled from a musical prism. But he also indulges more Western influences. That might mean slipping into smoldering psychedelia or charging (albeit sometimes awkwardly) through distorted funk-rock, with bulbous bass lines tracking his ascendant shouts. A new and unnamed group featuring guitarists Daniel Bachman and Zeke Graves, who offered an invigorated and snarling Hopscotch set together, open. —Grayson Haver Currin
