Onwe, Nicholas Nicholas, Heavy Lights

When: Thu., March 12, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $5
Onwe (pronounced “ennui”) makes shockingly good, catchy, ’80s-indebted dark pop, recalling The Chameleons’ Script of the Bridge. What’s more, it’s all in the service of making fun of the foibles of 20-somethings trying to improve their “personal brand.” On “FOMO,” Onwe sings deadpan about not getting enough Instagram “likes” and missing his “bbs.” This is painfully obvious but necessary indie satire. —Brandon Soderberg
