Onward Soldiers, Cousins, James Ethan Clark

When: Thu., Aug. 8, 10 p.m. 2013
Hungry for rock but not sure what kind? Wilmington's Onward, Soldiers have you covered. Humid folk-rock, spry piano pop, electrified outlaw balladry: The band does all this and more. Some of the ideas are a little half-baked, but they always come lashed to a pleasing melody. Cousins are a new band led by Eddie Taylor, once the mouthpiece and guitarist of rowdy rock 'n' roll duo The Loners. James Ethan Clark, a coastal singer with a clean croon and a bunch of bleary-eyed tunes, opens. —Jordan Lawrence
