Re: “The Tea Party

Thanks for publishing this "unbiased, fair and balanced" article on the Tea Party, with statements like "There isn't a single intelligent, well-informed individual in the United States who honestly believes...." So anyone with an opinion that conflicts with the author's opinion is by definition stupid and un-informed.

Bet the author was too busy foaming at the mouth to recognize his own hypocrisy, when he says in one place (about the "typical" Tea Party participants):
"Does "Do it our way or we'll shoot you" strike you as infantile, as well as sociopathic?"

Then a couple of paragraphs later:
"If they're bluffing, it's time to call their bluff. If they're serious, it's time to arrest them. Will we have to see how the Tea Party arsenal stacks up against the United States army?"

Ah our unbiased media at its best....

Re: “Reflecting on the late Molly Ivins, her new bio and her crusade against corporatized America

Nice puff-piece for a media darling. However the reality is that "fsilber" has it exactly right. She was a Texas-size hypocrite, who made a career of sugar-coating her far left agenda with a facade of "populism". She certainly cherry-picked which parts of the Bill of Rights she supported. She screeched against the evils of corporate lobbyists, in an effort to hamstring conservative interests, but had zero problem with the mega-buck donations from Soros, big unions, and trial lawyers that funded her beloved socialist (oops, populist) agenda.

Re: “Free speech "zones," police crackdowns threaten to muzzle debate

Pretty much the ultimate hypocrisy, when activists are demanding their free speech rights so they can deny them to anyone with whom they disagree (and the rights of audience that came to listen to the speaker).

Re: “J.H., 1921-2008

Many thanks to the artist and paper for publishing a fitting tribute to Senator Helms. He was a leader who fought for what he felt was right and did not compromise in the name of political correctness. We need more like him.
