Old North Durham Art House Show

When: Sat., Oct. 12, 3-6 p.m. 2013
Price: Free
Some Durham neighborhoods cultivate the feeling of a multi-block outdoor living room. Events that started in someone's backyard then sprawl into festivals open to the general public. The Old North Durham neighborhood promoted their Art House Show—basically turning someone's living room into a gallery for an afternoon—as a public event last year, and more than 200 people came out for it. This year the show features a signature cocktail to go along with the work of more than 20 local artists. It's a unique chance to meet artists living down the street from you and support their work outside of the commercial gallery context. But be polite—you're in somebody's house, for Pete's sake. —Chris Vitiello
