Old 97's, Salim Nourallah, Rhett Miller

When: Sat., Oct. 27, 8:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $20-22

Whiskeytown melted. Wilco morphed. Son Volt mutated. Blue Mountain faded. But the Old 97's—whose major-label debut Too Far To Care receives the extended-reissue treatment on Omnivore Records this month—have stayed together in their original lineup through it all. The Dallas quartet remain relevant nearly two decades later, as their recent The Grand Theatre, Vol. I & II attests. Frontman Rhett Miller did take a few pop-minded solo-album detours along the way; fans of those records will want to arrive early for Miller's short acoustic opening set. The band's longtime Dallas pal Salim Nourallah fills the middle slot. —Peter Blackstock
