Oh No! Oh My!, LAKE, AgesandAges

When: Sat., April 23, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $10

For today's indie rock fan, Oh No Oh My might be better known as Oh Yes Oh Boy. The Austin ensemble utilizes the tricks of myriad other popular bands, like the jangling guitars and echoing vocals of Fleet Foxes, the rambling emotional narratives of Conor Oberst and the sunshiny electronic sheen of groups such as Cut Copy. This popular eclecticism could be drab, but there's enough purpose and wit to keep it fresh and inviting. Lake, from Olympia, Wash., is more focused, pleasing ears with stripped-back, white-boy funk-pop that rides engaging vocal harmonies to maximum effect. AgesandAges opens the show. —Jordan Lawrence
