Re: “The Tea Party

You say that Republicans were champions of Civil Rights because we were Liberal. Your memory must be leaving you wanting, because the GOP has always been conservative. From the very beginning, we worked to CONSERVE the basic rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. The so-called conservative Democrats ( whom so many wrongfully claim are the forerunners to the modern GOP) worked to conserve their right to slave ownership. You say that the "liberal Republicans" joined the Democrats, while "conservative Democrats" ran off to join the GOP. Why? Why would the bigoted Democrats join the party that has stood against their bigotry, that has been the architect of all the civil rights laws in our country for generations? Democrats started the KKK. Democrats enacted Jim Crow Laws. Democrats championed slavery. Robert Bird, a Democrat, was a leader in the KKK! It's a rather blind swing to say that the Republicans today are the bigoted Democrats of yesterday. That bigotry still exists in the DNC today. Only a liberal could say that a black man has to rely on affirmative action instead of earning a job on his own merit, and not think they're racist. Only a liberal says it's only "fair" that we should take money from someone that rightfully earned it and give it to someone who did nothing to deserve it. It was the Democrats who ran the plantations before the Civil War, and it's the Democrats who still keep the minorities on the plantation. They do nothing to help you better yourself. They give you just enough to barely get by, keeping you poor and ignorant, all for a few token votes. You and your "progressive" ideals discuss me. You reshape history to fit your version of events and teach our kids the dumb-down version of your "truth." The only thing we conservatives are guilty of is having a love for the freedoms granted to us by the Law of the Land, and having the full, undistorted history to back us up.

Re: “The Tea Party

That statement at the end or your editorial is rather vitriolic. You wonder how the Tea Party Arsenal would stand up to the Army's? Let's go by the numbers. You say that only about four percent of All Americans have gone to Tea Parties. That comes to about 1.4 million people (which only a liberal could ever think that's a small number, which probably explains their penchant for inflation). Let's argue that Obama's right, and we're just a bunch of bitter gun clingers, meaning we all have access to some kind of firearm. And let's face it, a big chunk of us have more than one firearm. Now statistically, there are 90 guns for every 100 Americans. Chances are the vast majority of them, those not in the hands of the military, will be in the hands of right-wingers. You pit us against the Army, of which there are currently 580,000 active duty soldiers. Hmm, 1.4 million verses 580,000 soldiers. Let's not forget that quite a large chunk of them are pro-Tea Party. Another large chunk will find it very difficult to harm another American, especially a large portion of the population who just want to defend the very same freedoms these soldiers are willing to die protecting. Though many variables go unaccounted for, the very basic math leads to a very interesting conclusion.
