Nuclear Honey EP release

When: Sat., July 14, 10 p.m. 2012
Price: $5

There's an understated swagger to the songs of Raleigh's Nuclear Honey. Modestly twanged and passionately sung, they aim not to amaze but please with soft folk melodies polished in a way that doesn't strip their grit. Gray Henderson and Reaves Greer started this duo after stints with popular local outfits Ascella Vega and Sign of the Rhino, respectively. They share songwriting duties here while sticking to unfettered twin-guitar arrangements. They'll release the Tombstone Sessions EP at 10 p.m. Young Cardinals open the $5 show. —Jordan Lawrence
