North Carolina Boys Choir, Chamber Choir & Girls Choir

When: Mon., Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m. 2011
Phone: 919-489-0291
Price: $8-15

The North Carolina Boys Choir began 39 years ago as the Durham Boys Choir, before former Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. "promoted" the ensemble to statewide status in 1983. The scope gets even broader for their annual holiday show, which teams them with the newly formed Girls Choir as well as the Chamber Choir of Tenors and Basses (consisting of Boys Choir alumni). Instrumental accompanists include organist Jane Lynch, pianist Matthew Barnhill and trumpeters Paul Neebe and Michael Mole. The performance traditionally begins with "Once in Royal David's City," so don't be late for the 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets are $15, or $12 for seniors and $8 for kids 12 and under. —Peter Blackstock
