No Eyes, Zorch

When: Wed., Aug. 4 2010

Plenty of bands capture the sound of noise rockers Lightning Bolt, but very few capture their spirit. Enter Austin's Zorch: The keys-and-drums duo's sound is blissful, driving and thicker with synthesizers than the

Blade Runner soundtrack. Though intentional overstimulation is nothing new in experimental music, the epilepsy-inducing freak-out "Zut Alore!" is remarkable. With its rapid-fire drumming, walls of brilliant keyboards and gibberish lyrics about lizards in disguise controlling our minds, the track is catchy, accessible and—most important—fun. With the gentle psychedelia of Boone's No Eyes. —Corbie Hill
