Nik Turner's Hawkwind, Birds of Avalon, Ego Killer

When: Mon., Nov. 4, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $10-12
"Nik Turner's Hawkwind" is actually Space Ritual, the band the former Hawkwind singer started in order to play the space rock of his old act and new material, after legal woes threatened to squash his endeavor entirely. Turner's had a diverse career in the 20 years since he last flew the Hawk. His latest jams, though, stick close to the deep-throbbing and distant-sailing aesthetic he helped establish, particularly on the live album Space Ritual, released three decades ago in May. The recently and thankfully active Birds of Avalon open with an improv set, alongside Ego Killer. —Grayson Haver Currin
