I'm glad to see that Manbites Dog Theater and PlayMakers were represented as finalists in the category of live theater. However, either or both of these should have won this category. DPAC and the Raleigh Performing Arts Center are for-profit organizations hosting NON-LOCAL touring shows. There's nothing wrong with touring shows - they just belong in a different category than live LOCAL professional and semi-professional theater in the triangle. I seem to recall this happening several years in a row now, and it's really a disservice to the local, non-profit performing arts groups who work their butts off to put on quality work. Next year, please get this right, and put the big touring venues in a separate category. Thanks.
