Nick Swardson

When: Sun., Sept. 28, 7:30 p.m. 2014

DURHAM PERFORMING ARTS CENTERComedian Nick Swardson has perfected the fine art of being humorously, harmlessly creepy. Thanks to Adam Sandler, some of whose movies Swardson has populated or co-written, he's become the go-to guy if you need a weird, leering, amusingly douchey white boy to ham it up in your movie—or in TV's Reno 911!, where he plays recurring character Terry Bernadino. He funnels that persona into stand-up directed at frat boys in Affliction T-shirts. He'll always have a soft spot in our hearts for co-writing and costarring in Grandma's Boy, an OK comedy where he proudly hooked up with an elderly Shirley Jones. 7:30 p.m., $39.50, 123 Vivian St., 919-680-2787, —Craig D. Lindsey
