Nevermore Film Festival

When: Wed., Feb. 19 2014
Price: $10
The horror highlights in this year's "3-Day Feast of the Macabre" include a rare screening of William Castle's classic gimmick-horror tale The Tingler, introduced by legendary film archivist and programmer Bruce Goldstein, the former director of repertory programming for the New York Film Forum and founder of the reissue distributor Rialto Pictures. Among the fiendish features being screened: Grand Piano, with Elijah Wood as a concert pianist threatened with death by John Cusack if he plays a wrong note; Open Grave, with District 9's Sharlto Copley as a man who wakes up in a pit full of bodies; Proxy, a twisted tale of an attacked woman who makes a new friend, co-starring mumblecore king Joe Swanberg; and a plethora of shorts and international films, including the apocalyptic Spanish flick Last Days. Prepare to revel in violent murder, mass destruction and good-old-fashioned William Castle gimmickery! Life is good. Showtimes start at 2 p.m. during the week. —Zack Smith
