Neon Indian

When: Wed., Nov. 11, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $15-$17
Alan Palomo is chillwave’s golden bro, the one guy from a scoffed-at scene always taken somewhat seriously. He was the trend-setter, not a follower. His signature song soundtracked Portlandia, cementing it as definitional of some idea of modern hipness, even if that idea was lovingly mocked. But this year’s supremely sleazy VEGA INTL. Night School isn’t really that chill at all. With psychotic synth squiggles and leering vocals, it suggests that letting yourself drift off to its sound could result in waking up to some very unsavory business. —Jeff Klingman
