NCPS Reading Series: Kathryn Kirkpatrick, Gilda Syverson, & Valerie Macon

When: Sun., July 28, 2 p.m. 2013
The dog days of summer have finally camped out over the Triangle, but Fearrington Village provides an oasis of sorts within the baked countryside. The North Carolina Poetry Society presents a trio of award-winning poets as a different kind of tonic. Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kathryn Kirkpatrick has written many collections, including Out of the Garden, which was a finalist for the Southern Independent Booksellers Association Award. Gilda Syverson teaches at Queens University in Charlotte and publishes poetry as well as memoirs. Fuquay-Varina's Valerie Macon is known for Sleeping Rough, a work written out of the church community garden she founded called The Garden of Eaten. —Chris Vitiello
