Re: “Biotech or biohazard?

In your article, it is stated that no protests of the proposed lab have been made. This is because it was kept under wraps from the citizens of Granville County. The mayor of Creedmoor "leaked" this info a few months ago to the local papers, and yet little or nothing has been done to oppose this. Are we really that brainwashed to believe that the government will "make everything all right"? I now live in Chicago - 1400 miles from the proposed site of this lab - but have friends and family in Butner. I am horrified at the prospect of something so dangerous being built in such close proximity to so many people. Really, are 300 jobs (that will come from outside of the state)so important as to jepordize not only the livestock and people in Butner, but in the surrounding cities as well? Yes, I am sure the "highest level" of security will be provided, however, we are talking about a facility run and managed by humans. Mistakes can,and probably will, be made. I want to encourage everyone to do what they can to protest this lab. Write letters, hold something to show that this is not ok!
