N.C. Symphony: A Gala with Renée Fleming

When: Sun., Oct. 11, 7:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $90-$250
Soprano Renée Fleming needs no introduction, even to those who only know her from her turn singing the national anthem before the 2014 Super Bowl. She brings her expressive, versatile voice for her first performance with the North Carolina Symphony. The show will draw mostly from the late 19th century, with works by Wagner, Strauss, Puccini and Mascagni, with a medley from The King and I as a lone foray into Broadway. The highlight of the show should be Strauss’ lush Four Last Songs, written when he was 84 and contemplating the mysteries of death. —Dan Ruccia
