NC Music Love Army Benefit with The Mastersons

When: Mon., Aug. 26, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $10 suggested
It's a busy stretch in the Triangle for the Masterson and Whitmore clans. The Mastersons—the husband-wife Americana duo of Eleanor Whitmore and Chris Masterson—live in Austin but pay close attention to what's happening in the world around them. Lately they've been touring as members of Steve Earle's band and as his opening act; when they realized they had an off day after playing on Sunday with Earle at the Lincoln Theatre, they called up N.C. Music Love Army ringleader Caitlin Cary to offer their musical and political support. The Love Army opens, with The Mastersons following; donations go to Progress NC and help cover production costs of the Love Army's upcoming record, which benefits Progress NC as well as the NAACP and Planned Parenthood. —Peter Blackstock
