NC Comedy Arts Festival Opening Night

When: Wed., Feb. 2, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $10

The NC Comedy Arts Festival kicks off its 11th year with a weekend full of the most acclaimed sketch comedy troupes from across the country, thus giving lovers of laughs something to do other than stay home and complain about Saturday Night Live. The festival opens tonight at DSI Theater at 8 p.m. with a triple act of The Adventures of Whitestache, CRUNCHBOT and Friends, and Sketch Jam. Highlights of this weekend include the cult New York-based sketch comedy group Elephant Larry, the hit Mystery Science Theater 3000-esque P.T. Scarborough is a Movie, a live recording of the Super Secret Comedy Podcast, Toronto's Annabelle Gets it Back, Philadelphia's Meg & Rob and Match Game, a troupe that re-enacts the famously campy 1970s game show. —Zack Smith
