Re: “No joy at Hookah Bliss as smoking ban looms

I don't understand why the owner of Hookah Bliss is blatantly breaking a law. This country is a democracy and our laws are shaped by the will of the "majority", the majority made a decision and a law was passed through our political system. Currently in North Carolina 79% of adults do not smoke, of the 21% who do, most of them would like to quit. Our lawmakers heard from both sides on this issue and made the ultimate decision to require all restaurants and bars to go smoke-free. They did allow some exemptions and the Hookah Bliss simply needs to select a business model that conforms to a tobacco shop and patrons can smoke to their hearts content. If Mr. Bliss wants to continue to be a bar, then he would simply need to have his patrons step outside to smoke. It seems Mr. Bliss would be better served to conform with the law and put his energy into growing his business instead of trying to make a political statement that could in the end bankrupt him.
