MV & EE, Snake

When: Sun., Nov. 13, 9:30 p.m. 2011
Price: $5

Vermont duo Matt Valentine and Erika Elder, aka MV & EE, are so ridiculously prolific—their newest release is an 8-CD box set—that it can be hard to see the best trees in their sprawling forest. Look closer at Country Stash, their recent LP on North Carolina's Three Lobed label, which is easily one of their strongest, its hypnotic jams fleshed out with the help of Stereolab drummer Andy Ramsay and British sound-maker Mick Flowers. MV & EE's sky-seeking twang once again evokes Neil Young, but Country Stash has a wavy vibe only this band can conjure. The new local group Snake opens. —Marc Masters
