Mur Lafferty

When: Sat., June 11, 5-7 p.m. 2011

Times are changing, and there are creative people who know how to ride these changes. One is Durham author Mur Lafferty, who not only helped pioneer podcasting for authors with such podcasts as I Should Be Writing and Geek Fu Action Grip, but she initiated many of her books as original audio productions serialized through her podcasts. Lafferty recently raised $15,000 through Kickstarter to self-publish her Afterlife five-book series in limited hardcover form and e-book conversion. Copies were printed for those who donated, but Chapel Hill Comics is sponsoring a special launch party where fans can purchase all five volumes of Afterlife, printed by Lulu.com in Raleigh, from Lafferty herself. Get some great (and limited) books and learn about the unique kinds of tools available to writers today from 5–7 p.m. —Zack Smith
