Multiple Sclerosis Benefit

When: Thu., June 17, 8 p.m. 2010
Price: $7

This strong five-band bill is a testament both to the respect local musicians hold for the organizers—The Old Ceremony's organist and vibraphonist Mark Simonsen and The Whiskey Smugglers' bandleader Zach Terry—and the prominence the cause holds in both of their hearts. Both Terry and Simonsen have mothers with multiple sclerosis, so tonight they'll play for funds for the Eastern North Carolina chapter of the MS Society. Simonsen's freewheeling side project The Sundowners joins Terry's Smugglers, as well as the gorgeous duo Mandolin Orange and the stately, spare quartet Mount Moriah. Also, Last of the Great Sideshow Freaks. —Grayson Currin
