Modular Synth Meetup & Noise Show with Blush Response, Ben Davis, Mecanikill, Slaves, Vortex Rangers

When: Sun., Sept. 16 2012
Where The Nightlight's regular noise showcases figure more improv-drone, found sound and freeform approaches—the warping of traditional instruments—this Cave night looks toward a damaged electronic fringe. The 9 p.m. show is preceded by a 5 p.m. electro-gear meetup and marketplace. Headliner Richard Devine has been making electronica since the '90s; the Atlanta composer's constructions fall somewhere between digital collage and nihilistic dance music. New York's Blush Response makes more straightforward industrial goth—eyeliner, pleather pants and all. Locals Mecanikill meet in the middle, pulling infectious beats through digital skuzz just to crush them again under disembodied samples and grotesquely distorted vocals. Ben Davis, Slaves and Vortex Rangers also play. —Corbie Hill
