Grayson, good work on saluting one of the most solid rock'n'roll bands going today. If the dismissal by the indie culture really is about the accent and general belittlement of Southern culture, that's a shame, because that dismissal is rooted in the same ignorance that fuels the scorn with which some Southerners view Yankee emigrants. I would have to say that in my time I've seen just about as much ignorance in the indie scene as I have in the rural conservative mindset...which is a shame because both groups have a lot to offer, despite their insular tendencies. Ultimately, I'm not sure it matters, because the DBTs are going to keep putting out excellent rock records and Mike Cooley isn't likely to give a sh*t what anyone think about him anyways.
