Mitsuko Uchida

When: Fri., Jan. 21, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $30-85
The Japanese-born, European-trained pianist Mitsuko Uchida plays with unrivaled delicacy. She has supplied that light touch to interpretations of Debussy's pivotal etudes, as well as to the complete sonatas of Schubert and Mozart and the final five by Beethoven. Tonight, she'll play Beethoven's 27th sonata, plus two Chopin pieces and one by Schumann. Uchida, 62, is one of the most heralded classical instrumentalists in the world; don't miss this chance for a rare Southern performance. —Grayson Currin
