When: Fri., Nov. 13, 10 p.m. 2015
Price: $10-$12
Consider following Mitski on social media. On Twitter, the New York songwriter is always dropping wry, humorous asides, like “dating me is like trying to walk a cat.” Her 2014 LP, Bury Me at Makeout Creek, exemplified this wit, on tunes like “Townie” and “Drunk Walk Home.” But her songs aren’t punch lines. They derive their indignant energy from her struggle to exist on her own terms, both in private life and as a public musician. Openers Palehound are compelling, too, pairing oddball lyricism with springy riffage. —David Ford Smith
