Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Josh Kelley

When: Thu., Oct. 14 2010
Price: $20-$33.50

It's a rare double: Miranda Lambert is a mainstay on WQDR here in the Triangle, her songs showing up between those from commercial country luminaries such as Kenny Chesney to, um, Kid Rock. But she also made the cover of No Depression when that premier alt-country source still had print covers. There aren't many artists who can win trophies in the mainstream country world and still be welcome (for the most part, that is—there were letters) in the alt side of town. She's earned that dual appeal with songs like "Kerosene," a combustible blend of genuine Texas twang and thumping backbeat that was the title track of her gone-platinum big-label debut—and that, coincidentally, shares a name with an alt-country classic from the Bottle Rockets. North Carolina's own Eric Church (he has an album titled Carolina to prove it) and recording vet (but country newcomer) Josh Kelley share the diamond with Lambert. —Rick Cornell
