Call him a compelling songwriter, captivating storyteller, hotshot fiddler or fast-picking guitarist, but Mike Cross is first and foremost an engaging entertainer. Though he's most often associated with a slew of novelty-bordering ditties like "The Scotsman," Cross' folk-centric range also covers country ballads, bluegrass barn burners and Piedmont blues, along with the traditional territory of Appalachian gospel songs and Celtic reels.
