Re: “While downtown Raleigh's condos boom, its retail busts

City helps create problem then creates to task force to address problem: If retail downtown is important to the City, then why is the City planning to charge for weekend, not to mention evening, parking in City decks? Counterproductive.

Re: “Marcelo Martinez, lead dancer with Carolina Ballet, is also a smash in the kitchen

To attempt this argument in commenting on a lighthearted piece about an incredibly talented dancer makes you a ‘dog with a bone to pick’. Perhaps people do care what dancers eat. Marcelo Martinez is an incredibly gifted dancer, in case you’ve never seen him. I’m sure he has (and deserves) a nice fan base here in the Triangle. And honestly, as a representative of another arts organization, I must disagree with your whole funding concerns. The City Council and other powers that be have the right to make funding decisions that serve the City’s interests. Funding both the Ballet and the NC Symphony—both multi-million dollar organizations—differently than other arts organizations is not unreasonable. These two organizations have remarkably different impacts on the City than any of the rest. I think all of the arts organizations benefit from the presence and draw of the Ballet and Symphony—ever hear the phrase “a rising tide lifts all boats?”
