Re: “Bodies ... The Exhibition

I went to "Bodies, the Ersatz Exhibition" and I'm here to report to our readers: It's basically a knock-off show of plastinated corpses, now on display in Raleigh. Boy, malls really suck. Ewww. What about the suspicious explanation of where the bodies came from? China? Hmmm? Isn't Southpoint just so, so impossibly sanitized. Eeww. I saw the show in [let me drop a name] Berlin. This one's in a mall with dumb music from faux rocks and >gasp< no freedom of speech. The show isn't nearly as good as the original, which I saw and you didn't, and this one will cost you $25 to get in becuse they have to generate $17 in economic impact! Omigod. But the exhibition did show the alimentary canal--how ontological, and fittingly ironic too, inasmuch as it is on display at a, well, a mall. Eww. In a side display area, you could see little lima-bean sized fetuses, which, at 12 weeks, looked like pale cockroaches. (This is a coded remark about a perennially incendiary topic.) And it was in a mall. Ewww. Did I summarize the review accurately? Oops, a few words that need to be repeated. Ritualizing and fetishizing. Co-opting. Metaphor and allegory. There, that about does it.
