Michelle Rhee is a Democrat that believes in significant education reform. She angers the establishment because she doesn't support the status quo. I guess you could call that "conservative," but I find that definition doesn't fit well.

Rhee's and Fenty's "take-no-prisoners" approach to improving DC's public schools solidly led to higher student test scores, but it certainly created a good deal of controversy. She is both revolutionary and polarizing, but she has the interests of kids in mind. She was not very focused on the wants of the adults in the system. As a liberal, I think she has her priorities in the correct order!
