Re: “A rural row over Maple View Farm

I drive by Maple View every day, but I don't live close enough to hear the birthday parties. On the other hand, there's been some interesting construction going on right beside the MV Ag. Center, I couldn't figure it out, thought it was a new vineyard or something, until the other day when all these posts suddenly sprouted photovoltaic panels! Now I'm all for alternative energy but frankly this mess looks like crap out there in what used to be a pasture in full view of Dairyland Road, and definitely qualifies as an radical alteration/trashing of the bucolic local environment. I hope to heck they have some plans to get some nice buffer vegetation in there between all that aluminum and glass and the folks cruising Dairyland on their bikes that cost more than my car. SO... how about a followup article on THIS part of the MV saga??

Re: “Will a neighbor's complaint turn down Broad Street Cafe's rock?

Ya know, I didn't see anything in the article about the Cafe doing anything about the acoustics of their facility (read: soundproofing - which can render loud music quiet outside a building, ask any recording studio) or even just asking their customers not to park on residential streets. I'd hate to have wild music wafting thru my brain if I were trying to make an early night of it, much less have folks staggering thru my yard. But we need lots of good music venues. Work it out, y'all!!

Re: “Orange County airport: Flying under the radar

Just for folks' information, here are the websites of two groups IN ACTION regarding the University-proposed Orange County Airport:
and fun fact for the day:
AVGAS (Aviation gas used by prop planes) and stock car racing fuel are the only types of gasoline are still allowed to have LEAD additives.
Great thanks to the INDY and other papers and activists who've taken up the pen to bring to light and begin to create some sense out of this pointless abuse of power by a small part of the UNC establishment.
Mark Smith (resident of proposed Site F-1, I think)
