MF Doom Tribute with Illest Villain

When: Fri., May 15, 9 p.m. 2015
One is a mad jazz beat konducta, and the other is a metal-faced rapping villain. Together, as Madvillain, Madlib and MF Doom constructed one of hip-hop’s best novelty albums, drawing on unsuspecting jazz influences like Sun Ra and Bill Evans. Tonight, it’s up to an area jazz trio and a few guest lyricists to translate this and more of Doom’s special herbs for an audience. —Eric Tullis
