Meow Meow | PSI Theatre | Stage | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Feb. 12-14, 8:15 p.m. 2013
Price: $22

Australian performance artist Meow Meow transforms cabaret for the new millennium. She may have the teased hair and elbow-length gloves of a 1960s showgirl, but her explosive performances are uniquely post-(post?-)modern and startlingly versatile. Whether she's crowd-surfing, writhing sensually on the floor or belting out chansons with her lush, throaty voice, Meow Meow's combination of satire, soul and sequins is electric. In Duke Performances' presentation of Beyond Glamour, the cabaret diva teams up with pianist Lance Horne to take on Kurt Weill, Astor Piazzolla tangos and French ballads, singing and storytelling in three different languages. Meow Meow's manic irreverence and broad comedy are sure to fill the intimate confines of Durham's PSI Theatre; this sex kitten can sing as well as she can scratch. —Emma Miller
