Meat Wave, Wailin Storms

When: Tue., Nov. 3, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $8-$10
Chicago punk band Meat Wave—the name a riff on the decade-old Onion headline, “Dozens Dead in Chicago-Area Meatwave”—tops its whopping melodies with snarling satire. Delusion Moon, according to frontman Chris Sutter, is a faux-concept album whose subversive social critiques revolve around lunar cycles and the concept of moon sickness. It’s also a next-level post-hardcore record, as Sutter’s razor-sharp riffs cut through Ryan Wizniak’s propulsive drums. With doomy local punk act Wailin Storms. —Patrick Wall
